Coast Day is a demonstration that was born in 2007 as an central event of an awareness campaign about the value of the coasts and integrated management of the Coastal Zone (GIZC) as needed instrument for promoting the sustainable usage of the coastal resources and the goal is to make more aware the citizens of the Mediterranean Sea countries of concerning about preservation, protection and revaluation of the coasts. The Department of Environment of the district of Ogliastra connected to In.F.E.A (Information Formation Environmental Education) in collaboration with the Conservatorìa (it refers to a local regulation on preservation, construction building and protection of the Sardinian coasts) on the coasts of Sardinia in this day promoted series of activities that took place the week-end of October 24-25 in the whole district, included the Diving Center. In Barì Sardo took place a very interesting conference “Inconstant movement. The frontier between the earth and the sea.” Also there was a display of photos taken underwater by the Torre Spagnola (Spanish Tower), whereabouts La Torre, organized by the CEAS of Ulassai.
 

Saturday November 15th, on the occasion of the week dedicated to UNESCO and the Decade of Education on sustainable development about “Waste: Decrease and Recycling”, took place in Barì Sardo the demonstration “Clean Sea Bottoms and Beaches 2008.” Unfortunately the bed weather made us postpone the sea cleaning, but anyway we continued with the program by doing the demonstration in a conference room with the Association Walking on Blue Ogliastra, local Ekoclub, the scholars of the middle school, local divers, HSA and NADD instructors, local managers and some Coast Guards. During the morning geologists, biologists, experts on communication and diver instructors hold some short lessons about waste recycling, damages caused by the thoughtless actions of men and on environment preservation. We also talked about the world of diving and HSA and we had the opportunity to talk with two special divers Sergio and Gianfranco; both took the HSA diving license.
